Nuriootpa, derived from the aboriginal name Nguriatpa (a meeting place) sits in the heart of Australia's best known wine region, the Barossa Valley, and is the region's largest town and commercial centre.
The Nuriootpa Bowling Club is also the region's largest and like the vineyards and wineries that surround, is steeped in tradition and success.
The club was established in 1928 with the help of a grant of £500 from Nuriootpa benefactor William Coulthard with the first clubhouse and green situated behind the Town Institute. Due to continued growth, the club relocated to the present freehold site in 1963 where a generous clubhouse and two greens were established.
The following years would see continued improvements to both Clubhouse and surounds with several extensions to the Clubrooms, replacement of greens, new lights and Memorial Gardens.
Seventy plus years on and now over 100 members of all categories are now able to enjoy the excellent facilities and greens, a willingness to continue to be successful on the playing field, and to prosper and build on the excellent work that has been achieved in the past.
